From it’s heyday in the middle of the 19th century, through to a re-emergence in the seventies, the moustache has always been popular with sportsmen as a more aerodynamic version of manscaping than the cumbersome beard.
With Movember just ahead of us, we garnered opinion on the greatest moustaches in sport to create a slideshow of thirty of our favourites for the thirty days of the month, resisting the temptation to include the entire Liverpool squad of the seventies and eighties.
It's not the best moustache in the world but you can't help but smile at this picture of a young, pre-handball, Thierry Henry.
